Andikem In Time

The following timeline encompasses some of the most relevant dates in our history, which we are proud to share with our clients.

Gerardus “Gerry” Johanus Staartjes acquires the company Holanda Colombia out of bankruptcy.

After much regional growth, Gerry decided it was time to form a holding company for of all the entities he established in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, the Caribbean and Central America. As such, Holand Chemical International (HCI)was born. Soon after, HCI ventured into warehousing and shipping, the latter known as Andino Chemical Shipping

HCI grows to 8 specialized vessels for the transport of bulk liquid chemicals and HCI becomes one of the largest chemical distributor in the Americas region.

Brenntag AG acquires HCI to become the largest chemical distributor worldwide. Peter Staartjes, Gerry’s son, becomes CEO for Brenntag Latin America in 2004.

Peter exits Brenntag and forms Andino Holdings USA LLC, holding company to Andino Chemical International (procurement and trading), Andishipping (maritime transport), Anditerminals (bulk liquid handling and storage) and Andikem (fulfillment service concept and last mile delivery). The Group’s HQ opens in Houston, TX.

Andishipping Time Charters its first ship (MT Trans Trader) for delivering methanol out of Trinidad to Colombia, Ecuador and Peru; bringing back sulfuric acid, vegoils and ethanol

Andikem Peru is founded, beginning operations with sulfuric acid distribution Andikem Ecuador is founded, serving the shrimp industry

Anditerminals Mexico is founded and completes the acquisition of the Tuxpan Maritime Facility from ExxonMobil. Andikem Mexico is founded, beginning operations with the distribution of solvents. Andikem Colombia is founded, serving the biodiesel industry

Andino recognized as one of Houston’s fastest growing companies by Houston Business Journal

Andishipping enters into its longest time charter to date and renames the vessel to the MT Andino Alpha. Anditerminals eclipses over 35,000 m3 of liquid bulk storage in 8 locations throughout Latin America. Andino recognized as one of the ICIS 100 Top Chemical Distributors in the world and #20 in Latin America.

Andishipping time charters a second vessel, the MT Andino Nu. Andino Holland is founded to more closely work with suppliers in Europe. Andikem Panama is founded with the intent to foster new business for consumers and suppliers in Central America.

1959
